The Property

Situated a short kilometre uphill from the beautiful, riverside village of Tourtoirac, Domaine de Pragelier offers refined and elegant accommodation along with a fun and fascinating vintage concept store (brocante). Sitting nestled amongst the rolling hills of surrounding French countryside, this 18 th century manor house offers guests an idyllic retreat from which to explore and embrace the stunning Dordogne region. Built in the early 1700s, this magnificent property is a wonderful place to relax and re-charge and is very conveniently located between the small towns of Hautefort, with its extremely impressive 12 th century castle and Excideuil, itself a bustling market town. A short walk away, the village of Tourtoirac sits on a lovely stretch of the Auvezere River and offers the historic abbey of Saint-Pierre-es-Liens, the remains of the 12 th century Benedictine monastery, two restaurants, a corner market, a very traditional French boulangerie as well as the famous Grottes de Tourtoirac caves within a five minute drive. The serene and secluded ambience of the property itself enables guests to be as disconnected as they wish whilst, at the same time, being within easy reach of many supermarkets, restaurants and village street-markets. Within half an hour’s drive, one has the beautiful and lively town of Perigueux, the largest town in Perigord, with its many cool restaurants, bars and shops. Also, easily accessible and well worth a visit are the breath-taking towns of Sarlat, Montignac (Lascaux), Les Eyzies, Brantome, St. Leon-sur-Vezere and Domme to name but a few.

The Domaine de Pragelier is a place steeped in history.

C’était la résidence d’été du Comte Souffron. Unfortunately, a fire destroyed half of the main house. Our property and the village of Pragelier were ennobled by the King Louis XIV to thank the three Souffron sons who played an important role in the king’s army…

Nestled in the heart of the stunning Dordogne countryside,Le Talou offers spectacular, family-style accommodation with four bedrooms, sleeping up to 8 people. With an open-plan living room, dining room and kitchen arrangement, Le Talou provides spacious and airy communal accommodation and is absolutely perfect for holidays with family and friends.

There are three bedrooms and one fully-equipped bathroom upstairs in the house, two bedrooms with double beds and one room with two single beds. The fourth bedroom is separately attached to the house and includes a fully-equipped, en-suite bathroom.

One side of this picture-postcard, red-shuttered cottage looks onto a typical countryside garden complete with a mini-vineyard, vegetable patches, flower beds and beautiful trees providing shade under which to relax or to enjoy that long, lazy summer lunch or evening meal which is so typical of a French holiday.

Behind the magnificent and huge barn, the opposite side of the property features glorious panoramic views of the surrounding fields and meadows and a wide expanse of garden in which the children can enjoy hours of outdoor fun.
